Calverton–Arts Week 2007

Arts Week 2007 is the continuation of Arts week events 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006 which have been a great opportunity for BA Fine Art students to contribute towards a community based arts activity and develop their workshop skills and capability. It has also had a very positive impact on school culture. The school and the university seek to continue their collaborative partnership for Arts Week 2007 and aims to maintain the widening of different arts activities available. This will take place from at the end of June 2007.
We plan to continue the successful format where teachers and students work together with the pupils in a workshop environment. The Arts Week 2007 will also be complemented by a series of workshops led by experienced community artists; students will also be able to observe and work with the community artists, which will inform and extend their own professional practice. Calverton's pupils will choose the theme of Arts Week 2007, which will be interpreted by the staff at the school and used by the LMU students in their workshop planning and activity.
BA Fine Art students will be taken through a thorough training and induction process, which will cover important aspects such as health and safety, the practical and creative development of a concept, and will participate in an arts INSET session at the school with the teachers.
